Toei Animation’s Dragon Ball Super Announces International Kids Broadcasters On Eve Of The Brand’s 30 Year Anniversary
The Long-Awaited Follow-Up Series To Launch Through TURNER In France, Spain, Italy And English-Speaking Africa, SIC In Portugal And Nickelodeon In Israel
New Properties And Merchandising Opportunities Will Also Be Showcased At Brand Licensing Europe 2016

PARIS (2016, Sept. 1st) – Toei Animation Europe has secured a range of broadcast and licensing deals on behalf of Dragon Ball Super, the long-awaited follow-up series to the global anime phenomenon that first aired 30 years ago. In addition to launching in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel and English-speaking Africa, an extensive toy and back-to-school product line will be introduced.
Beginning in autumn 2016, Dragon Ball Super will air in France on TURNER’s new kids network, Toonami; in Italy on Italia 1 and Italia 2; in Spain on Boing; in English-speaking Africa on Cartoon Network; in Portugal on SIC; and in Israel on Nickelodeon. At the same time, Viz Media Europe’s French publishing company, Kazé, will create a library of exclusive school diaries and calendars that will be available in September ahead of the series’ debut. Bandai is also on board to continue its acclaimed association with the Dragon Ball brand by developing a comprehensive new toy line which will hit European retail by Christmas 2017.
In addition to Dragon Ball Super, Toei Animation will cap off its 60th anniversary year by showcasing the following properties at Brand Licensing Europe:
– Captain Future: The classic animated space opera which became a phenomenon in Germany, France and Italy during the 1980’s, will be reintroduced to the market.
– One Piece: Its latest feature film One Piece Gold will debut theatrically this fall in Germany (Viz Media Switzerland), Italy (Koch Media), France (Viz Media Europe) and Spain (SelectaVisión).
– Sailor Moon Crystal: Its highly-anticipated 3rd season is now available.
